RS Homes was approached with a unique opportunity to renovate this dilapidated semi-detached home at Richmond Street and Berkeley, in downtown Toronto. At first glance, it’s hard to imagine the true potential of a property like this.

The contemporary design marked a significant departure from the existing structure, but makes perfect sense in the bustling city centre. To maximize the property’s potential, we obtained a special permit for 100% lot coverage and addition of a third storey. This allowed for optimal square footage and an invaluable double garage without sacrificing usable outdoor space (see slide 4).
The sleek exterior finishing – black stucco and full height commercial grade glazing – makes for a truly unique home.

With virtually no rear or side yards, it was a priority to design a private outdoor space for Toronto’s idyllic summer months. The city skyline offers a breathtaking backdrop for the rooftop pool and adjacent patio.
Our shell package (including structure, glazing, roofing, doors, systems rough-ins, drywall and paint) provided the perfect foundation for contemporary interior finishing, designed and implemented by the owner. The full height windows, glass railings and open stairwell create an enormous space filled with light and energy.
